Why Kenya

Africa's original safari destination

Kenya is where the word "safari" was born. From the endless golden plains of the Maasai Mara — where the Greatest Show on Earth unfolds each year as 1.5 million wildebeest thunder across the Mara River — to the iconic Amboseli, where elephant herds move against the snow-capped silhouette of Kilimanjaro, Kenya delivers wildlife experiences unlike anywhere else on the planet.

At Clan Adventure, we design private Kenya safaris built entirely around you. No shared vehicles, no set departure dates, no compromises. Our expert guides know where the lions are sleeping and which crossing point will ignite next — and we put you right there.

Highlights

Reasons to visit Kenya

From iconic savannah landscapes to rare wildlife found nowhere else, Kenya is a safari destination that rewards every type of traveller.

Maasai Mara

The world's greatest wildlife reserve — home to all of the Big Five, massive lion prides, and the annual Great Migration river crossings.

Amboseli

Iconic views of Kilimanjaro towering above Africa's largest elephant herds. A photographer's paradise at every golden hour.

Samburu

A remote northern reserve home to the "Samburu Special Five" — species found nowhere else including the reticulated giraffe and Grevy's zebra.

Tsavo

Kenya's largest national park — vast, ancient, and raw. Famous for its red-dust elephants, dramatic lava flows, and extraordinary solitude.

Balloon Safaris

Float above the Mara at dawn, watching the plains stir to life below. Champagne bush breakfast follows on the ground.

Maasai Culture

Meet authentic Maasai communities, learn about their cattle-keeping traditions, and experience one of Africa's most iconic living cultures.

Lake Nakuru

A Rift Valley soda lake fringed with flamingos and the best place in Kenya to spot both white and black rhino.

Big Cat Capital

The Mara has one of the highest densities of lion, leopard, and cheetah on earth — with year-round sightings guaranteed.

When to Go

Best time to visit Kenya

Kenya is a year-round destination, but each season delivers something different. Here's what to expect so you can plan your perfect trip.

🌟 Migration Season
July – October
The Mara's finest season. Wildebeest river crossings peak in August. Dry weather, short grass, and excellent big cat action across the reserve.
🌟 Peak Season
January – February
Dry and hot with excellent game viewing. Low tourist numbers compared to July–August. Ideal for Amboseli with clear Kilimanjaro views.
🌧 Long Rains
April – June
Heavy rainfall and lush greenery. Lower prices and fewer visitors. Wildlife is present but roads can be muddy. Birdlife is exceptional.
🌦 Shoulder Season
November – December
Short rains bring occasional showers. Wildlife remains excellent and lodges offer better rates. A great budget window with smaller crowds.
